10 years rescueDAYS Japan
FROM NOVEMBER 08 TO 10, 2022, THE LARGEST TRAINING EVENT OF ITS KIND IN JAPAN, "RESCUEDAYS JP", TOOK PLACE AGAIN IN NAGAOKA CITY, THUS CELEBRATING ITS 10TH ANNIVERSARY.
This year, as part of a training station, three different scenarios were offered at two parallel stations each, at which practical training was carried out with a total of six professional instructors. The international team of instructors consisted of instructors from Austria, the Netherlands, Japan and Germany. On the rescueDAYS JP, a total of 186 firefighters were actively and intensively trained in technical rescue. Each day, 60 to 70 firefighters went through all three scenarios. In total, about 72 crash vehicles were tackled during the exercises. In addition, visitors were able to view the realistic operational exercises from a safe distance.
In 10 years of training, the event, which is organized locally by our partner FUNAYAMA, has steadily improved and grown. In total, we have trained 1649 firefighters in the course of this event in Japan so far, so that by now someone from almost every fire department in Japan could participate in the rescueDAYS. As a result, an incredible number of vehicles - 557 in all - have been cut, spread or worked on with rescue cylinders.
Right after the first rescueDAYS JP in 2012, it was recognized that two days were not enough for such intensive training and the event was expanded to several days. Also the accident scenarios change constantly. In order to make the work on the accident vehicles as realistic as possible, depending on the scenario, they are pressed, compressed and mechanically processed so that a deformation of the bodywork occurs, as would actually be the case in a real accident.
Among Japanese firefighters, the event is very popular and sought-after, so that places are booked up quickly after its release.
